    You mean there's more than one strap design available? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! The hole is a Military thing... it's mean to put in a loop of 550 cord so you can take them off and clip them to a carabineer on your belt for 'say' climbing the side of a ship or oil rig with your hands free to hold 'say' a weapon and the caving ladder.

    Awesome thats what i was looking for. Got a mk17 evo and a mk11 and want to replace the mk11 with an mk17 now. Now I have an imagination of how it would look like. Great explanation! Really like the price of the mk17 but the ports are not that well placed. Good stage nonetheless. Only thing that really bothers me is the transmitter. No where to put it

    Warning: ScubaPro seems to have redesigned the pins! Both ends are the same size! One end is now recessed very slightly deeper into the hole than the other end. That recession makes it easier to press the pin out the other end. I took mine to a dive shop, and they used a Jewlers mallet to gently tap against the punch which was placed on the recessed end of the pin!

    What is the difference between A700 carboon and 260 carboon regulator?

    • @SCUBAandSNORKEL
      @SCUBAandSNORKEL 3 роки тому

      The faceplates on both 2nd stages are Carbon Fiber. The 260 inlet tube is metal whereas the entire A700 (other that the CF faceplate) is metal. The 260 can be setup with left or right hand hose configuration. The 260 is bigger.

    Additional marketing ideas: The small slot in the Taiwanese version would make an excellent place to stow your lit cigarette between dives. The hole could also be used to play peek-a-boo with ladies at the bar; maybe a great way to let them know you’re a diver without having to be explicit about it.

    How would something like this compare to a wrist slate or wet notes? What applications would you recommend each for?

    • @SCUBAandSNORKEL
      @SCUBAandSNORKEL 3 роки тому

      Mike here speaking... Not a big fan or wrist slates. I find wetnotes and slates as useful communication tools. Sometimes just a quick short note can avoid a lot of underwater confusion. Wrist slates are super hard to share what you wrote with someone else. Wrist slates also take up a lot of real estate on your arm (typically left arm - since most folks are right handed) and that bugs me too. Ultimately I prefer wetnotes, easy to stow, easy to use for both communication and having already made lists, plans or checklists. This slate is basically a wet notes light with cleanable pages. I think the typical sport diver with a pocket to stow this will find it handy.

    I own and dive the first and second generation pilot which was described by the USN Experimental Dive Unit as the best deep water reg ever built . They presented Scubapro with a plaque stating the latter that hangs in their office in California . The original Air 1 and D series are direct decedents of the Pilot . In as much as the D420 follows in the D series lineage it has been completely redesigned with modern materials and no longer shares the co axial diaphragm / exhaust valve . The case has also been redesigned reducing the distance between the diaphragm and exhaust valve ( case geometry fault ) . The new D420 also has a Venturi Initiated Vacuum Assist lever something neither the Pilot or D series had . Like the Pilot the D420 also has the ability to be supported by two completely independent first stages . I am excited by the introduction of this regulator and can not wait to put one into service .

  • @johnmurphy40
    @johnmurphy40 4 роки тому

    Just a slightly different layout, but still a D-series, I doubt it will breathe any better than a well adjusted D350 or D400 WarmwaterJack

    • @SCUBAandSNORKEL
      @SCUBAandSNORKEL 4 роки тому

      You might be right. But the few divers we have had use say it breathes smoother than any other regulator out there (including the D400). The exhaust diaphragm on this model sits across from the inhalation diaphragm (rather than a dual purpose like the D350 & 400's) that alone should bump its performance.

    I just purchased this knife but it is so easy to pull out of the sheath with the slightest outward pressure (if your leg bumps against or snags ANYTHING) that I am afraid to take it in the water and losing it. Outside of a just a few pictures there are no directions on " Red tab on the underside of the Velcro leg strap keeps the sheath secured on the leg when pulling the knife out for use. What??? How??? Is that second stretch velcro strap supposed to go outside the handle to keep it from being popped out? No manual on the webpage (incorrect one actually). Nowhere on the net does it show how to strap this thing up correctly so you won't lose it on the first dive.
